As noted during the December 16, 2021 GRSBA Member Meeting, the organization was faced with a significant decision. Can GRSBA continue or should the organization dissolve? Based on the lack of volunteers to support the organization, dissolving GRSBA was an unfortunate yet necessary consideration. However, of the seventeen members that attended the membership meeting, all unanimously expressed the preference to make every attempt to sustain GRSBA as an independent entity. Please consider this correspondence, BOD Call for Nominations and Upcoming BOD Elections, as our message that We Need You! GRSBA can only continue to exist if we have an active governing body (Board of Directors). It should be noted that 2020-2021 was impacted by its second year facing the COVID-19 pandemic. This, for obvious reasons, realigned the priorities for many and created distractions from the normal course of business. During this timeframe, the General Member Meeting and BOD Elections did not occur, therefore, ALL GRSBA Board of Director positions are open.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, consider running for a BOD position for this upcoming term. Attached is an excerpt of the GRSBA Bylaws, which outline the responsibilities of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. (The full version of the Bylaws of The Greater Rochester New York Spina Bifida Association can be found on the GRSBA website.)
The Board of Directors shall be comprised, at a minimum, of the following:
– Current President (Executive Committee)
– Vice President (Executive Committee)
– Secretary (Executive Committee)
– Treasurer (Executive Committee)
– Association Attorney
– Medical Advisor
– Parent Representative
– Two Adults with Spina Bifida
– Four Members at Large
All Board Members shall serve a term of two years. Because there is not a current governing body, ALL positions are open.
PLEASE submit your nomination for any of the above-mentioned positions no later than Friday, January 14, 2022.
